Estate Planning, Trusts and Estate Administration
Our Estate Group counsels families, individuals and business owners in the development and implementation of estate plans tailored to meet their specific needs and goals. Our attorneys provide insight and practical advice regarding the range of issues surrounding the preservation and transfer of assets during life and upon death. As part of our estate planning practice, we assist clients in planning for the disposition of assets in a tax advantaged manner and planning for the succession or sale of a family business. We recognize that each client’s circumstances are unique and that personal, as well as financial factors, must be thoroughly evaluated in order to effectively prepare estate planning documents such as wills, trust agreements, durable powers of attorney and health care directives.
Our estate attorneys regularly counsel and assist personal representatives in the administration of estates and trusts. We provide guidance to clients throughout the entire probate process, including securing the appointment of an executor, marshaling the assets of an estate, ensuring that the decedent’s lawful debts, including all taxes resulting from death, are paid, and then facilitating distribution to those who are entitled to receive the estate. Our attorneys are experienced with and regularly practice before the courts in New Jersey and Pennsylvania involving disputes with respect to wills, administration of estates and trusts and related disputes.
The Estate Group works together with the Business Group to ensure that succession plans and other transfers of business assets are handled in an appropriate manner.
