Liability Mattioni,
Ltd. has been active in product liability litigation, including the defense
of manufacturers and sellers of heavy machinery and equipment, hand guns, and
other products. We represent lessors of certain
products, including industrial fork lift trucks and other materials handling
equipment in defense of personal injury claims. Our firm has been
appointed as counsel to represent a consortium of present and former ship
owners and their insurers in the defense of asbestos claims by seamen and
other maritime workers, which has involved numerous claims over many
years. We have actively participated in such matters, which has
required mastery of the special requirements for successful management of
asbestos litigation, as well as the more traditional representation of
regular non-toxic tort claims. The firm has been involved in product liability litigation, and in related types of claims for more than thirty years, involving complex ship construction and conversions, specialized hopper and other types of dredges, as well as defending the construction and maintenance of such diverse types of machinery and equipment as “modern” wooden roller coasters, in both court and complicated commercial litigation settings. In our maritime litigation practice, we have routinely been called upon to defend claims of defective ship and ship equipment failures resulting in injuries and death to maritime workers, ranging from allegedly defective boilers, pumps, winches, cargo handling equipment, cranes and related appurtenances, and other machinery and equipment. |
